2 quick face yoga moves you can do hands-free

Most of my Face Yoga routines include facial massage techniques or face exercises that involve using your hands. But sometimes it’s useful to have a few moves you can do hands-free.

In this post, I’m going to run through two quick, easy Face Yoga moves that don’t require you to use your hands. These are great for multitasking – you can do them when you’re driving, using your phone, or even when you’re working. Because they are so simple, they don’t require much concentration, which means they are safe to do when you need to focus on something else.

Both these moves focus on the muscles of the lower face. They are excellent for lifting and toning the area around your mouth and cheeks. As the muscles in this area get stronger, the skin attached is also tightened, tautened, and brightened.

Before you start any Face Yoga routine, I always advise having a clean face and clean hands. I also like to apply a few drops of my Fusion by Danielle Collins Pro Lift Facial Moisturising Serum. Even though the moves in this blog post don’t require you to touch your face with your hands, the serum is full of nourishing organic seed oils to moisturise your skin and bring nutrients deep into the middle layer of skin, the dermis, where collagen and elastin production takes place.

However, if you’re doing these moves in your car or at work and can’t easily clean your face or apply serum, don’t worry. You can still use these techniques without taking those steps.

1. TONGUE TO SIDE OF MOUTH

For the first technique, move your tongue diagonally down inside your mouth so that it is touching your gum below the teeth in your lower jaw. You want to have the tip of your tongue to one side of the centre, around where your first premolar is.

Sweep your tongue up and around the inside of your mouth, until it is below your nose. Then reverse the move to bring it back down to the bottom again.

Repeat this movement up to 30 times on the first side, then switch and repeat it up to 30 times on the other side too.

2. TONGUE CIRCLES

The second technique also uses your tongue, but this time we’re going to make a complete circle around the inside of your mouth.

Use the tip of your tongue to draw a circle around the inside of your lips and cheeks. Go three times in one direction and then reverse your circle to go three times in the other direction.

DONE!

These two techniques are very simple and quick to do, so hopefully they’ll be easy to slot into your day whenever you have a moment. I also have a short video demonstrating the moves over on my YouTube channel.

Like any exercise, face yoga moves are most effective when you do them regularly. Many people like to make face yoga a part of their normal skincare routine in the morning or evening (or both!). But the advantage of these two moves is that you can do them even when your hands are occupied doing something else.

You are most likely to remember to use these techniques if you can tie them into your existing routine. Perhaps make it a habit to do them when you’re in the car on your way to work or to drop off the kids. Or you could do them at your desk while you check your emails, or in the evening when you first settle down to watch TV.

Subscribing to my email newsletter is another great way to be reminded regularly to make Face Yoga part of your day. I also share tips and advice, plus you’ll get links to free resources, such as my YouTube videos, podcast episodes, and new blog posts.
