Signs you should be a face yoga teacher

This blog post is especially for anyone who has been thinking about doing my Face Yoga Teacher Training but hasn’t yet taken the plunge. So, if that’s you, I hope this will help you get some clarity on whether it is the right time for you to become a certified Face Yoga teacher.

I’ve been offering teacher training in Face Yoga for over 11 years now. In fact, we were the first company to offer it internationally!

I decided to set the training up because so many people were asking for it – but I really wanted to make it an accredited course.

That meant I needed to do a lot more than just design the course itself. I also needed to have the right credentials and experience to be able to offer the training and I needed to submit the course to accrediting bodies so that they could check it was high quality training that met their standards.

For me, this was a hugely important step in creating the teacher training. Having an external body look over the course and confirm that it is worthy of being an official certification holds a lot of weight and means I (and you) can be sure that the training hits the high standard that I want it to reach.

The teacher training course is now accredited by both the International Institute for Complementary Therapists and the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine. As a result, when you complete the course, you will have an internationally recognised certification to teach face yoga.

So, I knew that I wanted to offer the training and I knew that I wanted it to be an accredited course. In September 2011, while teaching wellness and Face Yoga as a guest teacher in the Maldives, I sent out a newsletter announcing that I’d be launching the teacher training in January of the next year.

I knew that would give me enough time to write the course and get it accredited. I planned to offer just six places at first and to hold the training at my house.

But as soon as I sent the newsletter, the manager of the spa I was working with in the Maldives got in touch and asked me if I could run the training for six of the spa therapists – on Wednesday. This was on Monday, and I didn’t have the course written yet. But it was a wonderful opportunity.

So, I said yes.

That gave me just one day to write the entire course. Bruce (my husband) and I got up early, went to the IT centre and got to work. I wrote a module at a time, then Bruce proofread them and added pictures as I finished each one.

It was a full-on day! But we got it done and the next day I went and taught the course to the six spa therapists, with a fully written-up manual in hand. I’ve been offering Face Yoga teacher training ever since.

THE COURSE TODAY

The course has evolved ALOT since then, so the training you’ll take now is definitely not the same course that I wrote in the Maldives in 2011. But the core of it is still very much true to that original version – the modules are the same, many of the exercises are the same.

The training has just developed and become more refined over the years. Today’s version has more tips, up-to-date business advice, updated photos, etc. And of course, it now comes with a full suite of videos too.

The other major change is that we rarely do group training any more. Some of our Super Trainers do offer group training in various locations around the world, but most people take the course as an on-demand distance learning course, which means you can work through it at your own pace and in your own time.

When you are ready, you do a written assignment and then do a practical assessment where you have a video call with your trainer and teach a short 10-minute Face Yoga class.

You have the option to do the distance learning with one of our Super Trainers or with me. The other option is to do the training as a one-to-one with your Super Trainer. They then run through the course materials with you via video call.

SIGNS THAT FACE YOGA TRAINING IS RIGHT FOR YOU

If you are reading this and thinking that it sounds great, but something is still holding you back from taking the leap, here are a few signs that it is time to follow that little nudge from your intuition and join our Face Yoga teacher community.

1. YOU ARE READY TO INVEST IN YOUR FUTURE SELF

I am a huge believer in the importance of investing in yourself. I take at least one course each year so that I continue to grow my knowledge and can incorporate a wide range of modalities into my work.

I know that it can feel scary, especially when you’re making a financial commitment. But I look at it in terms of the return on investment. For example, if you take the option to train with a Super Trainer via distance learning, which is £495, you then have the rest of your life as a certified Face Yoga teacher to earn money from your new skill.

You could easily set up a series of online classes or do a group workshop or create a course and earn that money back in one week.

And if you are hearing that voice of doubt saying that you won’t be able to make the money back, that’s usually a sign that there’s something deeper going on. Either some mindset blocks around making money, or a feeling of not-enoughness.

If that is you, I just want you to know you are enough. You can do this. You are capable. You can earn money with ease. Don’t let those thoughts stop you from living your dreams.

2. YOU ARE READY TO MAKE YOUR DREAMS A PRIORITY

Money is one thing that often holds us back from going after our dreams, and another thing that holds us back is time.

I totally get this – I’m a busy working mum and it can sometimes feel like there isn’t enough time in the day! But it is important to make time for our passions, to invest in our education and our future financial success, and to prioritise what is important to us in life.

What you do now is setting yourself up for your future success. So, taking some time to invest in a new certification is time that is very well spent because it will help you get closer to living the life you want and doing the work that lights you up.

Also, this course really doesn’t take very long. We usually recommend around 12 hours of study, so I’ve known people easily complete the whole thing in a week.

3. YOU CARE ABOUT HELPING OTHER PEOPLE AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE

This is absolutely what you should feel if you want to teach Face Yoga. Yes, we teach these skills to help people have smoother, healthier, more lifted skin. But it goes so much deeper than that too.

As Face Yoga teachers, we make a difference to people’s lives. We help them feel happier and healthier in the skin they are in. We show the importance of self-care and wellness. We help our clients look and feel like the best version of themselves at every age.

If you are drawn to help people look and feel better, that is a sign that you would make a great Face Yoga teacher.

4. YOU LOVE SELF-CARE AND WELLNESS

If you are like me, you spend any spare moments you have on self-care. You want to pamper and indulge yourself, and to look after yourself.

It doesn’t matter what way you do this. You might like to curl up with a book. You might go to the gym. You might do a yoga class or go for a walk. You might have a bubble bath and put a face mask on. There are so many forms of self-care.

But if this is something you are passionate about for yourself and want to share with others, this again is a sign that you are ready to be a Face Yoga teacher.

5. YOU WANT TO EARN MONEY DOING WHAT YOU LOVE

Many people come to Face Yoga teacher training because they already work in the wellness or beauty industry and want to add another skill to their offerings. It is such a good complement to many other forms of holistic wellness and is a lovely way to earn some extra money while also adding more value to your clients’ lives.

The other group who often do the training are those who have no prior experience but want to set up Face Yoga as a side hustle or as a brand-new business.

Teaching Face Yoga offers a lot of freedom. You pick your own hours, you choose who you work with and how, and you have financial abundance too. There is no earning cap on what your income can be from Face Yoga – you have the freedom to take it anywhere.

Plus, this is a career that leaves you the time to focus on your own wellness and self-care. I don’t believe in that hard hustle, burnout approach to success. Face Yoga should be done in a way that supports your health and wellness as well as your clients.

6. YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT POSITIVE AGEING AND NATURAL BEAUTY

My aim with Face Yoga is to help everyone feel the best they can for the age they are. We can’t stop the ageing process and we shouldn’t try to – it is a privilege to get older and to experience each new day.

Ageing is inevitable but what we think about the ageing process is our choice. If we can stand up proudly and say “I want to look as confident, happy, peaceful, and glowing as possible for the age that I am” that is a great message.

If you believe this too and think it can be achieved in a natural way, you will be a great Face Yoga teacher.

7. YOUR INTUITION TELLS YOU IT IS TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE

If you have a feeling inside you that is leading you to want to add a new skill, uplevel your life, earn more money, have more time, feel calmer, healthier, and more grounded, then this is your sign to make that change.

Starting the teacher training is a proactive first step in making the change that your intuition is guiding you towards.
